York Registry Office Wedding – Janelle + Thiago

When Janelle + Thiago had their pre-wedding zoom call and told me all about their plans for getting married in York i could not have been happier when they decided to book with me. I am a York registry office wedding photographer and born and bred in York itself, so i just love a reason to head up north with my cameras and visit my home city.

Janelle and Thiago chose to have a small intimate ceremony with their closest family on the Thursday at York Registry Office followed by some couples portraits around the city before rejoining their family later for a meal. York Registry Office is such a beautiful space to exchange your vows as you enter married life. There is a large skylight in the ceremony room meaning beautiful natural light flooding in for those all important stunning ceremony photos. There is also a beautiful, private garden around the back of the building too which is perfect for some group photos with loved ones after. Then, my favourite part about a York registry office wedding – the fact that we have the whole city of York on the doorstep to explore for those memorable couples portraits. So come prepared with some comfy shoes to throw on and hit the streets of York with me – i know some great places to take you on your big day 🙂 For Janelle + Thiago it was such a beautiful day and we were spoilt for choice for photo locations with the beautiful sun-kissed historic streets that York had to offer. We started our portrait session at the top of Marygate before walking through to York Minster and finishing up on the famous York bar walls.

Janelle + Thiago then had further celebrations a couple of days later at The Motorist in Sherburn in Elmet, Leeds with the rest of their family and friends. This place is such a unique venue with a beautiful naturally lit space for a wedding reception – and a must for all car lovers! The newlyweds rocked up in style to the venue in Janelle’s convertible with all of their guests awaiting their arrival on the balcony outside. Everyone enjoyed their food before an open mic for speeches – many of Thiago’s friends and family had flown in from Brazil to celebrate with them which was epic – they knew how to party! The evening ended with plenty of dancing and drinks and everyone having a great time. It was such a chilled couple of days celebrating with Janelle and Thiago and i loved how they chose to have their day. It was such a pleasure to be a part of!
